Course Description

Fascinated by our fair feathered friends we encounter on a daily basis? Come learn the basic fundamentals of birdwatching or improve your skills and enjoyment of birding. This course will cover the basics of birds, their lives, and how you can get more from birdwatching.

Learner Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Better understand birds, their physical attributes, and their life story
  • Learn how to identify birds using principles of color and structure
  • Learn about bird songs and calls
  • Understand the relationship between food sources and species
  • Develop a thorough understanding of birding equipment and its use
  • Learn about information resources used in birdwatching
  • Learn about communication and ethics pertaining to birdwatching
