Course Description

Bring the joy of the season to life through the art of floral design! In this hands-on class, you will explore the principles of floral arranging, including color theory, balance, and composition, while creating festive pieces perfect for holiday celebrations. Guided by an experienced instructor, students will design two seasonal arrangements: a Thanksgiving centerpiece and a Christmas arrangement constructed with long-lasting holiday greenery. All flowers, supplies, and containers are included!

 

Learner Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the principles of floral design, including color theory, balance, and composition.
  • Construct a Thanksgiving centerpiece that demonstrates proper use of design principles.
  • Design and assemble a Christmas arrangement using long-lasting seasonal greenery.
  • Safely and effectively use floral tools (bypass clippers, floral knife, scissors, bucket) during the design process.
  • Select and incorporate appropriate seasonal flowers, greenery, and containers into holiday arrangements.
  • Apply proper care and handling techniques to extend the life of completed floral designs.
  • Demonstrate creativity and personal expression while producing professional-quality floral arrangements.

  • Small floral knife Scissors
  • Bucket (a kitty litter bucket or similar is recommended)
